The purpose of a game as determined by the Punto Banco rule
Baccarat Punto Banco is played between two opponents: on one side the bank or “Banco”, and on the other the ponte or “Punto” , a virtual player.
On the score side, the Punto Banco rules stipulate that the cards retain their face values, except for the face cards and the 10, which are worth 0 points here. The goal of the game is therefore to get as close to 9 points as possible, with a maximum of three cards. To start the game, the dealer must wait for the players to place their bets, at which point he will deal two cards to the banker and two cards to the player.

If this variant is so appreciated by players, it is because the Punto Banco rule is very easy to understand and remember.
Punto Banco can be played by one to seven players. The players will position themselves around a Punto Banco table, and the dealer will take a seat in front of them. The dealer will need 6 to 8 decks of cards to start the game.
Players will begin by betting on one of three bets:
- ♣ The Banco bet: the player bets on the bank;
- ♣ The Punto bet: the player bets on the punter;
- ♣ The "tie" bet: the player bets on "Punto Banco equality".
The course of the game during your baccarat Punto Banco session
Punto Banco rules require players to place one of the three bets listed above before the game can begin.
The course of a classic two-card game only
Once the Punto Banco cards have been dealt, the dealer will compare the values of the two hands. If these are worth 8 or 9 points, the dealer will stop the distribution.
- ♣ If the punter has the highest score, players who bet on Punto win winnings;
- ♣ If the bank has the highest score, players who bet on Banco win;
- ♣ If both have the same score, the players having bet on equality win;
The Third Card Rule
But what happens in Punto Banco baccarat when neither the player nor the banker has a hand worth 8 or 9 points? In this case, the outcome of the game is modified. The player must draw a third card if and only if the value of their hand is between 0 and 5 points. Conversely, if they have a total of 6 or 7 points, they must not draw any new cards.
If the bank has a total of 7 points, it should not draw any new cards. However, if it has a hand totaling 0 to 2 points, it will be obligated to draw a third card. Additionally, if it has a total of 3 to 6 points and the player has drawn a third card beforehand, it will have to draw another one under certain conditions, as shown in the table below:
|Total Banco Hand||Banco must draw, if the value of the third card of the Punto is|
|3||From 0 to 7 or 9|
|4||From 2 to 7|
|5||From 4 to 7|
|6||6 or 7|
Finally, if the punter has not drawn a third card, the bank will draw one if the total of his hand is between 3 and 5 points.
