On June 10, 2018, the Swiss were called to the polls for a referendum on online gambling. The result was clear: with a majority of 72.9%, all the cantons adopted the implementation of a federal law to better regulate this activity. As a result, the Federal Gaming Commission was created and now oversees this particular market. Taking inspiration from the Belgian Gaming Commission, the Swiss FGC has already started to change our habits.
The gambling law gives full powers to the CFMJ to accomplish clear and essential missions
Concretely, the role of the CFMJ revolves around 3 main missions:
♣ The distribution of A or B licenses to terrestrial establishments wishing to carry out their activity in Switzerland.
♣ The authorization or not of platforms wishing to obtain the operation of online gambling.
♣ The regulation of amounts during poker tournaments: the starting bet is set at 200 francs and the maximum amount at 20,000 francs.
According to the annual report of the CFMJ, the commission must focus on 4 main areas: here they are in detail
1.Protect the player against gambling addiction: the CFMJ asks casinos to initiate several measures to avoid risky behavior.
2.Control the fairness of gambling: the institute ensures that each game complies with the law, in particular with regard to the redistribution rate.
3.Fight against money laundering: casinos must display total transparency regarding the various financial transactions.
4.Identify illegal platforms: the CFMJ gives itself the right to prohibit or close an operator not authorized to operate in Switzerland.
Each operator must now have the license required to offer games of chance in our country

You will have understood it, Swiss players now have the assurance of enjoying themselves on fully reliable and legal sites. Online casinos and bookmakers wishing to develop in Switzerland are thus obligated to obtain the license required by the Federal Commission for Casino Games. Moreover, only authorized land-based establishments in Switzerland can submit an application.
As for foreign operators, they are purely and simply banned since July 1, 2019: players will be redirected to a page informing them that this offer is no longer legal. You can find the list of authorized sites by consulting the CFMJ annual report or on our website.
