Reopening of casinos: what to expect?
Friday, July 9, 2023The pandemic has forced many industries to change and adapt, or even come to a halt for long periods. As the world slowly returns to normalcy with the introduction of vaccines worldwide, industries can begin making arrangements to return to normal.
This is particularly true for Land based casinos , which have been inactive for long periods of time. The following article focuses on France in particular and provides additional insight into when casinos will return to normal in the country.
A gradual return to normal...
casinos have been able to open at their own discretion since December 15, 2020. Restrictions have been put in place to prevent the spread of infection in the establishments, and these are expected to be slowly relaxed in the near future, just like the reopening/easing of restrictions in the rest of Europe.

After more than eight months of waiting, the future of casinos is finally clear: they will now be allowed to resume their activity from May 19, 2023 .
However, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, the Secretary of State for Tourism, clarified that not all casino establishments will be immediately open to the public.
Indeed, the casinos will be able to reopen with 35% capacity and will only be able to operate slot machines. From the June 9 , the gaming tables and their staff will be able to resume their activity, and the establishments will be able to accommodate up to 50% of the public .
It's only from June 30 that they can accommodate all of their customers , only if the sanitary conditions allow it.

However, as things are constantly evolving, it is important not to take the dates for granted. If the pandemic worsens and a new strain of COVID creates complications, the set dates will likely be postponed.
